STEM - Science Competition at Zion National ParkTeams of 5 high school students work together to solve real science problems by combining their knowledge on Core Objectives in written tests and using science equipment in Zion National Park on Saturday April 16. Entrance to the Park is free for registered teams. On Friday evening, April 15, the teams will meet at Hurricane High to do an oral presentation on their solution to an actual science issue facing many Utah residents. The issue is sent in advance to all registered teams, and all science learning/testing objectives are on our website. Winning teams are awarded Olympic-style medals in six events. The Utah State Champion wins scholarships and can represent Utah at the North American championships in Ontario, Canada this Summer. This competition aligns well with Biology/Ecology, Earth Science and Environmental Science. This competition has nothing to do with political or controversial issues, but promotes good science methods, careers, and support of the universities throughout our State. To see a 6-minute video of the competition, showing students in action, go to utahenvirothon.org , click on "Home" and then "Video". If you are interested in this, please let me know. There are some great incentives beyond getting to go to Zion's. If you win there you get to go to exotic Canada! Here's some helpful links!Want to impress your family and friends?
